Leadership Intensive

The Leadership Intensive, OPERA America’s signature leadership development initiative, is a yearlong program for rising leaders in opera administration.

Chosen from a competitive pool of applicants, each annual cohort convenes at our National Opera Center for a week of seminars and trainings to advance their careers and establish strong professional connections. Throughout the subsequent year, participants come together at the annual conference and virtually to assess their growth and goals with expert faculty.

Turn the Spotlight Fellowship

Turn The Spotlight is a by-nomination fellowship created to identify, nurture, and empower leaders – and in turn, to illuminate the path to a more equitable future in the arts. Over an 12-month period, Jaime will be mentored by Afa Dworkin (President & Artistic Director, Sphinx Organization), and Melissa Wegner (Executive Director of the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program and the Laffont Competition, Metropolitan Opera) to construct a project that aligns with her mission.

The Dallas Opera
Hart Institute for Women Administrators

November 2022

Jaime participates in a week-long professional development workshops. While the Hart Institute began with a focus on supporting talented conductors, the challenges faced by women opera administrators are equally daunting. To address this imbalance, The Dallas Opera has added a new component to the institute by inviting two to four American opera administrators to join the program each season. These women will be selected on the basis of their leadership experience and potential to become the leader of one of America’s top opera companies later in their careers and will attend all virtual sessions alongside participants. This curriculum includes the role of the Board, leadership development, personal branding, media and PR training, effective artist management, and navigating recruiting processes for senior-level positions. 

Akron Symphony Orchestra

November 2022

Jaime will be the mezzo soloist for Margaret Bonds' Ballad of the Brown King with the Akron Symphony Orchestra.

Tessitura Network
Early Career Development Program

September - November 2022

Jaime joins the Tessitura Network's Early Career Development Program on the fundraising fundamentals track. Over this ten-week program, participants will gain foundational knowledge, hands-on experience, and practical skills using Tessitura’s CRM platform in fundraising; join a community of colleagues and mentors providing support, community, and professional networking; and secure access to a repository of training videos to expand knowledge of Tessitura.

Jaime is mentored by Joshua Thomas, VP of International Relations at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Awards for Digital Excellence in Opera

November 2022

Jaime adjudicates OPERA America's inaugural Awards for Digital Excellence in Opera. The program is designed to encourage ongoing investment in the development in digital opera projects as vehicles for expanding the reach of opera to new audiences.

Jaime sings Aunt Lou in William Grant Still's Highway 1, U.S.A. and Zegner Daughter in Missy Mazzoli's Proving Up. She covers Fenena in Nabucco.

Women of Color in the Arts
Leadership Through Mentorship

February - November 2022

Over the course of a ten (10)-month period, beginning in February 2022 and ending in November 2022, WOCA’s Leadership Through Mentorship Program creates the space for participating members across the WOCA global network to connect through virtual cohort gatherings and one-on-one mentor-mentee encounters. 

Jaime is mentored by Danni Gee, Programming Director of the Joyce Theater.

Apprentice Artists

June - July 2022

Jaime joins as a featured soloist and covering Lily in the Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, and covers Hippolyta in a Midsummer Nights Dream. She performs Mercédès in Carmen, Siegrune in Die Walküre, and Tisbe in Cenerentola for the scenes program, and sings Aunt Lou in William Grant Still's Highway 1, U.S.A. for Singing Black Stories: A Concert of Selected Works.
